How To Properly Apply Mens Cologne

Everyone has had to ask this question before. It’s one of those taboo things that guys don’t seem to want to ask; who knows why. What really gets me is that a lot of men don’t actually know how to properly apply mens cologne.

That’s right; you too may be wasting money and not getting the results you deserve from your chosen fragrance. Let’s go over the best places on your body to spray some ‘magic juice’, as well as a few other things you should know.

You have probably sprayed cologne on your clothes at one time or another hoping that the smell would last. This is exactly the opposite of what you want to do. Clothes are not a hotspot and therefore will cause the smell of the pheromone to dissipate rapidly. Not only that, but by spraying cologne on your clothing you won’t give the fragrance a chance to react with your body the way it is meant to.

What are these hotspots then? Hotspots are areas on your body that produce more heat than others. Some of these hotspots are also called pulse points. These include the wrists, neck, and back of ears. All of these points produce heat and allow the fragrance to react with your body. It is recommended that you apply your mens cologne to these points if you need to smell good for the night. Air will constantly hit the fragrance at these points, and the smell will not last as long as if applied to the other spots we will discuss below.

Why would I recommend you wear perfume on these spots if the smell might not last all day? It is really simple. When you go out at night you are usually leaning in and talking to women, etc. With the smell being out in the air as well as around your neck area, the aroma will be a little more “out there”.

You are probably asking “then where do I apply a fragrance if I need the scent to last longer for work or something”? The answer is; since air will quench the scent faster, you want to wear your fragrance under your clothes. This will cause the scent to linger evenly through the day. The best hotspots for this are the wrists, chest area, back, and thighs.

The one thing that remains constant no matter what your situation, is don’t overspray the perfume! Keep it subtle. Two to three sprays is all you need. Of course use your judgment, but too little is better than too much here. If you have ‘splash’ cologne that doesn’t spray, just put your index finger over the bottle opening, and tip the bottle. That way you won’t pour too much on.

Now there is no excuse for not wearing your mens cologne properly, or not wearing a pheromone at all!

Attract Single Women with Colognes

This week I want to focus on how to use cologne to meet single women. This method works great in bars and nightclubs especially well. However, it can be used anywhere you happen to be where you see women you’d like to meet.

Here’s How It Works:

1. Put a small bottle of cologne in your pocket when you go out. I would recommend a top of the line cologne such as Polo. Even better I would choose a pheromone cologne such as “Liquid Magnet” (this product will give you an edge because when the women you approach smell it, it can make them desire you sexually and more friendly towards you).

2. Approach a woman you are attracted to and take out your bottle of cologne and say, “I just bought some new cologne. Could you smell it and tell me if it turns you on?” Whether she says yes or no doesn’t really matter. The whole purpose of this method is just a ploy to meet her and introduce yourself. It’s a great ice-breaker, so to speak.

3. If her answer is no to the question of if the cologne turns her on, then I recommend that you say this: “Well, if the cologne doesn’t turn you on, do I turn you on?” Hopefully she will say yes and things will look very promising to develop some intimacy or at least get to know her and get her phone number.

If she says no to this question, then put some cologne on your neck and let her smell it and say, “do I turn you on now?” If she still says no and she acts like she’s not the least bit interested in you, maybe it’s time to move on and try this method of meeting single women on someone else.

What is the Best Cologne?

If you are anything like me, you have over a dozen cologne bottles you have collected over the years in your bathroom. Some have been gifts, others have been my own purchase. I am a sucker when it comes to having the buy the “latest and greatest” so this has definitely added to my collection as well.

One day while I was deciding which one to spray on, I asked myself “what is the best cologne”. Obviously we wear a fragrance in the hopes that it attracts the opposite sex. With this in mind I thought it would be a good idea to have a survey to see which ones I owned girls found the most appealing.

I had a perfect opportunity since my friend was hosting a large BBQ/party on the weekend and I knew there would be a minimum of 25 ladies attending. I grabbed 10 of my bottles and threw them in a knapsack. Operation “what is the best cologne” was underway!

I knew my buddy had the same problem as me – his bathroom cupboards were overflowing with cologne as well. I went to his place early and chose 5 of his in order to have a total of 15 different fragrances.

Now I am no expert at designing surveys, but I did figure out that asking each girl to smell 15 different colognes would not only be a chore but would also make them take it less seriously. I also might burn a few nostrils that way. So this is what I did:

I made three groups of five colognes each. At the party, I assembled three groups with nine girls in each. Each group would “test” their five colognes and rate them from 1-10. I would then take the five highest scoring bottles and have all 27 girls smell and rate them again.

You might be wondering which colognes were included in the experiment. Let’s have a look:
1) CK Eternity Summer
2) Drakkar – my friend insisted on this one. He claims it’s an “oldie but a goodie”
3) Guess Man
4) Joop
5) Kenneth Cole Black
6) Kenneth Cole RSVP
7) Lacoste Red
8) Lacoste Homme
9) Cool Water by Davidoff
10) CK Euphoria
11) Armani Code
12) Dolce & Gabana
13) Acqua Di Gio
14) L’eau D’issey
15) Clinique Happy

So let’s cut right to the chase and answer what is the best cologne! Here are the winners.

1) Lacoste Red – The lowest of all 27 scores was a 7. That is impressive. All the girls seemed to react favorably and many said it was “fresh” and “invigorating” One girl said she just wanted to smell it all night long (which I must say sounds mighty promising!)
2) CK Euphoria – This one came in a close second. More than one girl said it “smelled like man”. I wasn’t exactly sure what she meant as I thought it was full of citrus and maybe a little fruity, but apparently that’s a good thing. It is subtle but effective.
3) Guess Man – This one came as a shock since it is pretty old. The word “sexy” came up over and over. Not everyone liked it, but many of them liked it a lot. It seemed to send shivers up some girls spine. Not bad for liquid in a bottle.

Fortunately the first two were mine. Sadly, although I owned it in the past, it looks like my cupboards will be getting even more cluttered as I will have to purchase some of the Guess Man.

Now don’t get me wrong. There are hundreds of colognes and this is just a handful of options. But hopefully it gives you some idea of what works and what girls like. I know it has changed which ones I reach for in the morning.

So there you have it. My not so scientific results to help you choose a cologne. Remember, girls like guys who have a sense of style and fashion. This falls into that category. If you are wearing a great cologne and you know it, it can help your body language and confidence. It is just one of many things to consider when playing “the game” of seducing women.

That’s all for now,

EDT, EDP, EDC? The Various Types Cologne And Perfume

Not all cologne and perfume is made equally. In fact there are four different concentrations of perfume, each one being very different from the other.

In this article I am going to discuss the four different variations of cologne as well as what each concentration may be used for.

Did you know that most cologne’s and perfumes are comprised mainly of alcohol? In fact, most of the fragrances that you see in any shop will only be comprised of 4-10% of actual scented compounds. Of course this varies depending on the perfume that you look at. The rest of the 86-90% of the bottle is made up of alcohol and water.

Some fragrances actually have a lower concentration of scented compounds, and some have more. This is where the commonly used EDP, EDT, and EDC come into play. Let’s take a look at what these mean.

Perfume – Also known as Perfume extract, ‘Perfume’ is the most concentrated and smoothest of the four types. Typically made up of a 20-40% concentration of scented compounds, perfume is definitely the most expensive to buy.

Eau de Parfum – EDP is typically made up of an 8-16% concentration of scented compounds. EDP is probably the most common type of concentration you will see at the store. An EDP scent will usually fade after four hours, but the base notes can linger for a 24 hour period. Fragrances with an EDP concentration are perfect if you need an all day scent

Eau de Toilette – EDT is another very common concentration found in many fragrances. EDT is typically made up of a 4-8% concentration of scented compounds. Some people find that some EDT perfumes last a long while, but generally these are better left for night time use where the scent isn’t needed for as long.

Eau de Cologne – EDC isn’t commonly found in any fragrances anymore. It doesn’t last that long, and is typically only made with a 2-4% concentration of scented compounds.

Now you will know what all those fancy French names are on the side of your favorite mens cologne bottle. Whether you need a longer duration scent for work, or something a little shorter for the clubs, you are now one step ahead of the crowd!

What Gives Perfume And Cologne Their Individual Fragrance?

The fragrance of a perfume or cologne is determined by the ingredients it contains and by the balance between those ingredients.

Do you know the difference between an eau de toilette and an eau de cologne or a brand name perfume and a unbranded fragrance? Well, the brand name perfume is usually made to last longer but it’s a bit more complicated than that. The levels of essential oils found within a perfume, be it from a famous brand or an unknown label are what determine what the fragrance will actually be called.

The main perfume categories are:

* Perfume - which is the purest form of fragrance product and is, consequently, the most expensive. The price is balanced, however, by the fact that the scent lasts the longest.

* Eau de parfum - is lighter than Perfume and has an 8-15% concentration. It is usually less expensive but still has long lasting characteristics - typically from 3 to 5 hours.

* Eau de toilette - is a lighter more delicate fragrance, with a 4-8% concentration of the essence which makes it most suitable for everyday use. It is commonly less expensive than Eau de Parfum, and lasts between 2 and 4 hours.

* Eau de cologne and Eau de toilette are generally interchangeable especially in relation to men’s fragrances. It typically only contains between 2 and 5% aromatic oils.

There are many other products that use perfume concentrates as well as those above. The more obvious examples include soaps, cosmetics, bubble bath, lotions, creams and aftershaves.

Apart from the different classes of perfumes the scents that they produce can be described by, what is known as, their fragrance notes. Fragrances consist of different notes and can be made up of hundreds of different ingredients which make every scent an individual creation. These notes are:

* Top notes - these are the first notes you smell and are strong and very volatile. They fade quickly which allows the more “rounded” and mellow middle notes to come through.

* Middle notes - these compounds form the “heart” or main body of a perfume and can be smelt as the top notes fade away. They have a mellow fragrance and include such scents as lavender, spearmint and rose.

* Base notes - the fragrance of a perfume that appears close to the fading away of the middle notes. Compounds of this class are often the fixatives used to hold and boost the strength of the lighter top and middle notes. The scents are typically “deep” and rich and usually take at least 30 minutes before they can be perceived. But, some base notes can still be detected more than 24 hours after the perfume has been applied to the skin.

These fragrance notes and differences in the balance between the essential oils and alcohol are what make each perfume smell differently.

Cologne and Perfume - What’s Your Fragrance?

There have been fortunes made in the fragrance industry. Cologne, perfume and other products can make a person smell good, but that’s not all there is to fragrances. Take a look at some of the reasons people wear particular colognes and perfumes.

The name is sometimes the most important aspect of a particular fragrance. When a celebrity endorses or manufactures a line of perfumes, that’s sometimes enough to make the perfume a success. In many cases, those names behind the products or emblazoned on the bottles make the fragrance popular regardless of the smell.

Some colognes and perfumes are popular because they are part of a particular line, the product of a specific company, or even packaged in a certain way. This is much the same as celebrity endorsements.

The marketing aspect can’t be overlooked. As with any product, even colognes and perfumes without celebrity endorsements and those from companies that aren’t well known can be promoted to success. Advertising campaigns can mean the difference when a consumer is about to choose a cologne or perfume.

For some people, the smell is all that matters. No matter what celebrities are willing to say this is a great perfume, or what awesome marketing campaigns are driving consumers to a particular product, there are those who will overlook all those for the smell that attracts their attention.

Research over the past few decades shows that fragrance has some particular roles in our lives, from promoting romantic tendencies to prompting memories.

For some people, perfume and cologne is all about self-image. There’s nothing that makes a woman feel prettier, cleaner or sexier than an awesome fragrance. It’s really no different for men.

You can trace the origins of perfumes and colognes back to the days when bathing was an irregular event. Then, the purpose was mainly to cover body odor though the decisions of which perfumes to use were also carefully considered. During times of economic depression, women have still found fragrances. Vanilla or other spices, when there was little money for luxuries like perfume and cologne.

The next time you’re standing at the counter trying to choose a fragrance, take a minute to consider what’s going to drive your decision.
